Animated Poetry Research 4

"There's A Man In The Woods' written and animated by Jacob Streilein. This is my favourite animation of all the ones I've researched, maybe because the story is so compelling or because the artwork has a beautiful juxtaposition of simplicity and complexity. The tone used by the narrator had a particularly strong impact on me, there was a firm sense of emotion that was subtle but effective. I liked how the animator would blur foregrounds and backgrounds to guide focus, and how the animator changed the shape of objects in one swift frame rather than animating a transition. Whereas other animations that I've researched have a strong sense of visual fluidity, "There's a Man in the Woods" has more impactful cuts and has a much harsher rhythm. I think that this is an interesting use of editing and would be beneficial with a gritty poem.
