I animated a portrait of a character moving for general practice with moving heads around in a space. I used photoshop and judged the movement by drawing guidelines where I wanted each facial feature to travel. I think that i kept the model of the face fairly consistent, but the ear and the character's left horn change shape and size. I need to try to stick to the original shape and size more in future.
